Books I have read recently

  • Nelson Demille: The Lion's Game
My first John Corey novel. Demille's characters are really strong in their portrayals. John Corey is one like Paul Bremer in "The General's Daughter". A massive novel, I took a day off from work to finish it off. Simply superb.
  • Ken Follet: Jackdaws
A thriller in all aspects, Jackdaws had a lots of twists and turns as you would expect from Ken. Just waiting for the next book from Follet.
  • Nelson Demille: Cathedral
An gripping story of terrorism, love, despair, and cruel manipulations of human minds. The novel was on the expected lines. But the thrill was finding out who Jack Leary was.
  • Ken Follet: Hornet Flight
"Unputdownable", just as the reviews said. I picked it up hoping to read for an hour and then continue it the next day. Put it down only after completing it. A wonderful thriller. The master author at his best.
  • Wilbur Smith: The Sunbird
Second time, I'm reading this novel. Over the years Wilbur Smith has continued to delight me with his research and love for Africa. Wating to get my hands on the "Blue Horizon".
  • Umberto Eco: The Name of the Rose
I've watched only a few minutes of the movie on tv (the end credits). Having read Eco's Foucalt's Pendulum a long time back, I am still amazed at the depth of the story and amazing use of semiotics by the master of the art.
